Shadows on the Snow

We definitely had a lot more snow last February than we have had so far this year. This was taken in early February 2009, and was in a series I’d forgotten about because it was stored on a different computer. The first one is the original, straight out of the camera. This morning I had the urge to make it black and white, and I almost think I like that version better. What do you think?

I’m multi-tasking on the meme front again today, and playing in Scenic Sunday, Shadow Shot Sunday, and Straight Out of the Camera Sunday. Please do go visit the other participants as well … they’re much better photographers than I am! :)

A Country Drive

Last week I mentioned that I was going to try and get out of the city and find something besides the parks and rivers in town to take pictures of. It didn’t go as well as I’d planned because there was just too much ice built up on the sides of the roads to pull over but we did manage to snap a few shots:

Sunday Sunrise

I was wide awake at 5:30 a.m. this morning and after checking the temperature decided it was warm enough (-3C) to head out and see if I could capture a sunrise shot or two. This is one of the better ones:

Funny thing is, out of all the times I’ve taken pictures of the cemetery from this vantage point, I’ve never noticed the little church there before. I guess it’s because I’m usually doing lake shots from this side in the summer, and everything is pretty much hidden by the leaves.
