Thanksgiving Sunday Stroll

I played hooky from writing again today in order to spend it outside and I’m really glad I did. Walking around Lakefield Marsh and breathing in the lake air and smelling the leaves and lake and the fall air and the fire that someone had going really motivated me to work harder and be more successful so that soon I can have a place by the water again.

The peacefulness of the area reminded me of how much I loved living by Lake Erie when I was younger, and of how much I really detest living in the city.

I want to live by the lake again, to wake up each morning and breathe in the fresh air and the smell of the water, the trees, and even the fish. :) I want the peace and quiet that comes with living in the country, a quiet village where people aren’t afraid to smile and say hello to one another, and where when you live in the same place for a decade you at least know your neighbours names.

Maybe I’m just getting old, but this is what I want. And I’m very grateful that I was able to go for a walk in a place like this today to be reminded of what it is that I want, and to receive a healthy helping of inspiration and motivation to make it happen.

What a Day!

It’s been an incredible day. After sorting through at least two dozen new wordpress themes, I finally found one I could customize to my liking. I am so very grateful that I’m at the point where I can start adding content to my new project blog. (If I get the first batch of content written tonight, I’ll let ya see it tomorrow!)

I’m also grateful for the cool, crisp fall air. It’s so much easier to breathe when it’s not so humid as it was in the summer.

Gratitude Journal Day 2

I’m late posting for today because I was so focused on getting my first report finished that I lost track of time. So for today I am grateful that I had the focus and energy necessary to write a report and get it finished in one day. I’m also very grateful to my son for taking some seriously beautiful pictures on his 40k bike ride the other day. Here’s an example of his handiwork:

That’s it for me today. I need to get the rest of my report typed up before I call it a night here.

100 Days of Gratitude

I’ve set myself a few 100 day challenges to finish out this year, and one of them is to keep a gratitude journal here on my blog. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day crap and forget to be grateful, which is really sad because there is so much to be grateful for. Like today I am grateful for:

My creativity because it lets me play and create cool images
My dental benefits that allow me to have regular checkups and cleanings (guess where I was all morning)
The bargain book rack at Zellers – I found a book there today that I’ve been needing for ages to finish out a series

Thanking November and December Commenters

I’m a little later with this post than I intended to be this month but that doesn’t make my gratitude any less heartfelt. Commenters are the lifeblood of a blog. If no one’s reading and sharing their feedback with you, it makes a bloggers life way too lonely. And I’ve noticed on some blogs that commenters never get thanked or acknowledged. I used to be one of those people who took my commenters and visitors for granted, but never again. That’s why I’m making it a priority each month to publicly acknowledge the people who took the time to visit and to leave comments. Without you, this site would be a lonely place indeed.
