As it’s getting down to the end of the year, many people, me included, are looking back at 2009 and all we’ve accomplished (or not) and at the same time looking forward to the new year with all it’s promises and possibilities.
Today’s photos are from April 2009, and even though I try my best to always live in the moment, on a grey day like today I can’t help but look back to the spring that was and remind myself that soon I’ll have it all to look forward to again.

… and points in-between.
On Christmas Day we decided to take a hike and go out behind the University to walk along the river. Instead we ended up climbing the drumlin, which is something I always wanted to do when I was a student there and never seemed to find the time for.
This first one is the view from the parking lot. You can see the path winding it’s way around behind…

And then about halfway up…

Miss Margaret was not a very well behaved critter that day, so as glad as I am that we took her with us, she probably won’t get to go on too many more camera outings. :)
And now for the views from the top…
I have to admit to not making it all the way to the top. I stopped to catch my breath at a bench just beyond the halfway point, and my son took my camera all the way to the top to capture this view:

And this is my contribution from about 3/4 of the way up after I’d had my rest and got bored waiting for him to come back down. :)

One thing I learned this day is how much noise power lines really make. You don’t think about it when they’re masked by the sounds of the city around you. Sitting out in the open on top of a hill, where the lines were so close it felt like you could reach out and touch them, they were crackling, and humming along and you could just hear the energy as it flowed.
